Mobile Van Tuning, DPF & AdBlue Solutions

Professional mobile solutions for vans and light commercial vehicles across Hartlepool, Teesside and the North East.

At GC Tuning & Performance, we understand that when your van is off the road, it can mean lost time, cancelled jobs and lost income.

We provide a mobile service for vans and light commercial vehicles, specialising in ECU remapping, Stage 1 tuning, DPF diagnostics and chemical cleaning, AdBlue/SCR faults and vehicle diagnostics.

Whether you're an individual tradesperson, business owner or operate multiple vehicles, we'll help get to the bottom of the problem and advise on the appropriate solution.

Van ECU Remapping & Stage 1 Tuning

A Stage 1 ECU remap can improve the power, torque, throttle response and overall drivability of your van without requiring engine modifications.

Additional torque can be particularly useful for commercial vehicles regularly carrying equipment, loads or towing.

Every vehicle is different, so expected BHP and torque gains depend on the engine and ECU fitted. Use our Vehicle Gains facility to check the potential gains available for your van.

Van DPF Cleaning

Blocked DPFs are a common problem on commercial vehicles, particularly vans used for short journeys, stop-start driving or prolonged idling.

Common symptoms include:

  • DPF warning lights
  • Limp mode
  • Loss of power
  • Failed regenerations
  • High DPF back pressure
  • Excessive soot loading
  • Increased fuel consumption

We provide mobile DPF diagnostics and professional chemical DPF cleaning, assessing relevant DPF data before and after the clean wherever possible.

Our aim is to restore the existing DPF to proper operation where its condition allows, potentially avoiding the considerable cost of replacement.

Mobile DPF Chemical Cleaning – £200.

Van AdBlue & SCR Faults

Modern diesel vans can develop faults within the AdBlue/SCR system, including:

  • AdBlue warning lights
  • Mileage countdowns
  • Countdown to non-start
  • AdBlue pump faults
  • NOx sensor faults
  • AdBlue injector faults
  • SCR efficiency faults
  • Vehicles that will no longer start

We can diagnose AdBlue and SCR problems and advise on the available repair or software options appropriate to the vehicle and its intended use.

Because replacement AdBlue components can become expensive, correctly identifying the fault before replacing parts can potentially save a substantial repair bill.

Vans We Work With

We work with a wide range of light commercial vehicles including Ford Transit and Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Peugeot Partner and Expert, Citroën Berlingo and Dispatch, Volkswagen Transporter and Caddy, Mercedes-Benz Vito and Sprinter, Fiat Ducato, Iveco Daily and many more.

ECU Remapping & Stage 1 Tuning

Professional Mobile ECU Tuning Across Hartlepool, Teesside & the North East

GC Tuning & Performance provides professional ECU remapping and Stage 1 tuning for cars and vans throughout Hartlepool, Teesside and the wider North East.

ECU remapping is the process of recalibrating the software within your vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU controls many aspects of how the engine operates, including power delivery, torque, boost pressure, fuelling and throttle response.

Manufacturers often use different software calibrations across similar engines and vehicles. Professional ECU tuning allows the calibration to be optimised for the individual vehicle, providing improvements in performance and drivability without physically modifying the engine.

What Is a Stage 1 Remap?

A Stage 1 remap is designed for a standard or largely standard vehicle and normally requires no additional performance hardware.

The original ECU software is read from the vehicle and a professionally developed calibration is installed, optimising the relevant engine parameters within appropriate operating limits.

Depending on the vehicle, a Stage 1 remap can provide:

✓ Increased BHP
✓ Increased torque
✓ Stronger acceleration
✓ Improved throttle response
✓ Smoother power delivery
✓ Improved overtaking performance
✓ Better towing performance on suitable vehicles

The exact improvement varies considerably between engines, gearboxes and ECU types, which is why we provide expected figures for each individual vehicle rather than advertising one generic percentage increase.

Is ECU Remapping Safe?

When carried out correctly on a mechanically healthy vehicle, a professionally developed Stage 1 calibration is designed to operate within sensible parameters.

At GC Tuning, we're not interested in chasing unrealistic headline figures. The aim is to provide a strong, smooth and reliable calibration appropriate for the vehicle.

The age, mileage, engine, gearbox, condition and intended use of the vehicle all need to be considered.

A remap cannot repair an underlying mechanical problem. If a vehicle has significant faults or isn't suitable for tuning, these should be addressed before performance software is installed.

Will I Notice the Difference?

On many turbocharged petrol and diesel vehicles, the difference can be significant.

It's not simply about achieving a higher peak BHP figure. Increased torque through the usable RPM range can make the vehicle feel much more responsive during normal driving.

Customers commonly notice stronger acceleration, improved mid-range performance, reduced hesitation and less need to change gear when accelerating or climbing hills.

For vans, 4x4s and towing vehicles, additional usable torque can be particularly beneficial.

Can Remapping Improve Fuel Economy?

In some circumstances, improved torque and engine efficiency can allow a vehicle to be driven with less throttle during normal driving.

However, we don't promise fuel savings. Actual fuel consumption depends heavily on driving style, journey type, vehicle condition, load and how the additional performance is used.

If you regularly use the extra power after tuning, fuel consumption may increase rather than decrease.

Petrol & Diesel ECU Tuning

We provide ECU tuning for a wide range of turbocharged petrol and diesel cars and vans.

Modern vehicles use many different ECU types and communication methods. Depending on the vehicle, programming may be carried out through the diagnostic port (OBD), directly at the ECU or using specialist programming methods.

GC Tuning uses professional ECU programming equipment and will determine the appropriate method for your particular vehicle.

Automatic & DSG Gearbox Tuning

On certain vehicles, the transmission control unit can also be calibrated.

DSG/TCU tuning can complement an engine remap by altering parameters such as torque limits, shift behaviour and gearbox response where supported.

We'll advise whether gearbox software is available or beneficial for your particular vehicle.

What Happens During a Remap?

Before tuning, we'll establish the vehicle specification and carry out the appropriate checks.

The ECU software is then read using professional tuning equipment. The calibration is prepared for the specific engine and ECU before being programmed back to the vehicle.

Following programming, the vehicle is checked to ensure everything is operating correctly.

Because different vehicles and ECUs require different programming procedures, the time required can vary.

Vehicle-Specific Tuning

We don't believe that tuning should simply be about installing the most aggressive file possible.

Different vehicles can have different engines, ECU software versions, transmissions and operating requirements even when the model appears identical.

Our approach is therefore based around appropriate vehicle-specific calibration and realistic performance gains.

How Much Power Will My Vehicle Gain?

This depends entirely on the vehicle.

Some engines have considerable tuning potential, while others have much smaller gains available.

That's why we've added our Vehicle Gains facility to the GC Tuning website. Select your vehicle to see the approximate original BHP and torque figures alongside the expected tuned figures.

Performance figures are estimates and individual results can vary according to vehicle specification and condition.

Mobile ECU Remapping

GC Tuning provides a fully mobile tuning service, allowing many vehicles to be remapped at your home, workplace or another suitable location.

We cover Hartlepool, Teesside and surrounding areas across the North East, with wider-area appointments available depending on location.
